This bold piece demands attention. Like old Glory itself this tin-man, Murphy, proudly displays his might. His rusted rivets and vintage patriotic tattoo echo the nearly forgotten determination and strength of the American people. Forged from the ideals of the greatest generation, Stars and Stripes is industry, innovation and fortitude.
To the left of Murphy’s tattoo, just underneath his arm, can be found a group of children saluting the flag in pledge. Just below that is an image of infantrymen loading shells into a canon. The contrast is a reminder that to this day, little children pledge, while others give there lives for the flag.
Inside the star on the upper right sits lady liberty, looking over her country. The ghost of George Washington also watches from the upper left, his vision limited.
