Each year I work on a piece that focuses on the sentiments of the Yuletide season.
Apollos, the tin man strides over ice and snow, winter’s still cold breath rising through the trees. Upon his back the bundle of switches and sticks that will bring warmth to a home somewhere. In his hand he carries the poinsettia bloom, winter’s flower and the promise of life and beauty even in the cold. Apollos’ purpose warms the freezing landscape.
Although a winter scene, this piece is toned by warm yellows, browns and rich ochres. One can almost hear the soft crackle of snow settling in the trees, the glimmer of bells and the brittle creaks of rope and twig as he makes his way home.
