A wild black-and-white dream, part reverie, part nightmare, painted in thick oils on the worn surface of a footlocker that had a life before this one. Truly one of a kind. It comes from a time when I loved elevating common, found objects into something more.
The piece feels pulled from another realm, like a fragment of a 1940s dreamscape. Early in my career, it may have been circling ideas of drive and ambition, chasing something just out of reach or running from what trails behind. It moves in that loose, tongue-in-cheek dream logic, where nothing quite resolves but everything feels charged.
Like the end of a long, wild weekend, still buzzing in the head. And yes, the title nods to that song. You know the one.
