It’s not the size of the monkey in the fight but the size of the fight in the monkey, or something like that. This piece was originally painted on a cutting board with a history of its own, a kind of past life.

A crisp reproduction, it still carries that same meaning. Painted during my found-object era, out of the vault. It comes from a time I was learning the ropes, learning to stand up for myself and move through the world with more tenacity.
