Through dense layers of warm textured yellows, twilight blues and stark olive drab, “Conflict” is a piece that explores the territories of contrast. Evoking the wars our fathers and grandfathers, Rig finds himself in a liminal moment, contemplating the weight of his actions. Snippets and writings of hope and peace are mixed with those of struggle, war and death.

Ahead of him lie the blue swallowtail butterflies. These striking messengers often symbolize new life, beauty and a change in luck.
