Rex, painted in chroma reds and blues, gazes ahead in wonder. The burnt yellows and golden layers in the background depict the open American road, amber fields and uncharted landscapes of the mind.

A canary sits perched in the top right most corner, as if testing the air ahead. A skull lies behind, serving as the memento mori.

Included is a quote from Jack Kerouac’s “On the Road.” It states:

“All the golden lands ahead of you and all kinds of unforeseen events wait lurking to surprise you and make you glad you’re alive to see.”
