This piece is a foray into a new technical territory for me. Beyond the dense brushstrokes, and the pallet knives that were used to sculpt a range of textures; beyond the hidden fabrics and secret symbols sleeping in the mystic blue-green miasma, lies the significance of this work’s message. The more pure, the more boiled down I could make it, the more universal.

Birds of the night, crow, raven and owl surround East, perched in their shadows. The two ravens at the top right represent an old parable that has taken many forms. Below them are written, “Feed the One, Starve the Other.” Light and Dark. The one you feed, lives on.

There is a magic, a profound mystery and above all, a burning iridescent power in the idea of hope. Whatever the darkness is that surrounds, and believe me there is plenty, there is always hope.
