Vol. 01: "The Mender"

Vol. 01: "The Mender"

Thanks for being here.

These notes are from a quieter room
(set a little apart from social media) where things unfold more slowly.

These notes are occasional, a bit more personal. A glimpse of the headspace behind the work. If you think someone else might enjoy, feel free to pass it along.

Fresh off the easel, introducing “The Mender.”

She’s not East.
I don’t think she has a name. She feels as if she’s from another realm, meeting your gaze across the room.

In this one, Apollos is being repaired.
It became a quiet, surreal moment about growth, repair, and rewriting the narratives we carry. Letting go of what’s no longer working. Making room for something new.

It started simply. I just wanted to paint flowers.

I didn’t have a full plan, just a rough sketch of the characters and straight to canvas.
As I worked, it shifted. More personal, more tactile, more honest than I expected.

The specific plants found their way in gradually…

Prickly Pear Cactus
– resilience, boundaries, strength, tough beauty.

Cordyline terminalis ‘Firebrand’
– transformation, sparks of change.

Orange Blossoms
– new ideas, growth, abundance.

Hyssop with purple flowers
– cleansing, forgiveness, new beginnings.

White Dahlia
– purity, endings and beginnings, the spiritual in the everyday.

If you want to do a little homework on the meanings of these flowers, it’s all there.
Each carries its own story.

This one feels different from my usual work.

More vibrant. More reflective.

It came from a simple place. I wanted to make something beautiful, quiet, and alive, even when the world feels messy.
