There has been a lot of hustle and bustle in my small corner of the art world! Curious minds want to know…Here’s the run down. I was recently humbled by the opportunity to be a part of the 2013 Hunting Art Prize competition. It was a fantastic event showing off the talents of 107 Texas-based artists. As many of you know, I like to keep many fires burning at once. Let it be known that I am currently working on my graphic novel series. I keep telling myself that the journey of 1,000 miles begins with a single step! It will be interesting to see how my characters come to life throughout the story as it progresses. Watch out for Rig and Rex, those suited up primates! They are hitting the trail for mischief. I have certainly been blessed by being a part of the Muir Fine Art Gallery. They are doing a wonderful job at getting my work to the public. In other news, my photographer friend, Marcus Juarez, and I have been up to some innovative collaborations. These two pieces, “Rebel Motors #1” and “Rebel Motors #2” represent a modern mash up of photography and good ol’ fashion hand painting. My characters become so grounded within Marcus’ style of “painting with light,” that it blends the lines of what’s a photo and what is acrylic.
